The classic pairing of blue and orange never fails to inspire; it is another good example of when opposites attract. The cool tones of blue emphasizes the warmth that orange radiates. This pairing is often found in nature too and is meant to be comforting and familiar to the human eye.

In a study called The Impact of Color in Marketing, researchers found that people can make up their mind about product choices based on colors alone in less than 90 seconds. What’s even more interesting is that the “use of colors can contribute not only to differentiating products from competitors but also to influencing moods and feelings – positively or negatively – and therefore, to attitude towards certain products.”
Greenery: a light, bright grass green, really planted the seeds for this year’s version to develop. This year’s trending color combination shows how green has matured into something more edgy and dark. The moody Forest Green can almost look black in some lights but it is lifted by the refined tones of the Moss Green.
The beauty of this particular pair is that the two individual shades are cool and modern. The exuberant orange red sets off the purple undertones of the pink. Include white to keep it crisp.
A variation on the complementary color combination. In this case, you take one primary color and two complementary ones (the colors that lie on both sides of the primary color’s antipodes on the color circle). The effect created by such a scheme is just as contrasting as the one before but slightly less intense. If you feel confident about using the complementary scheme, use the split complementary instead.
Using pale shades of sky blue and earthy brown is a sure way to induce a state of calm and relaxation. No wonder Airbnb used this palette for their display ads. Their promise could be summed up to: this is the kind of life and experiences you’d enjoy when booking accommodation through our platform, one-on-one hosting, friendship, and above all the quietness of an isolated shore, far from the madding crowd of the city.
