Individually, they can be overwhelming in large doses, but when placed side-by-side the two colors enhance each other. From a visual perspective, black becomes darker and white is highlighted. The results are clean, crisp and contemporary. Black and white is popular in all areas of design. Graphic designers and marketers use it to deliver powerful and clear messages, and it is a staple part of the fashion industry.
This is a combination of 2 to 5 (ideally 2 to 3) colors that are to each other on the color circle. It creates a calming, likeable impression. Here’s an example of combining analogous muted colors: yellow-orange, yellow, yellow-green, green, blue-green.
This is a scheme that includes one primary and two complementary colors, plus an additional color that highlights the accents. An example: blue-green, blue-violet, orange-red, orange-yellow.
